Inland Empire is David Lynch’s final directorial feature. A surrealist, and unnerving experimental psychological thriller, the film was developed on a scene-by-scene basis and shot entirely on a low-resolution digital camera.
The soundtrack of this film features a variety of musicians and genres - from songs written by Lynch himself, such as the pop melodic track “Ghost of Love,” and minimalist ambient tracks “Rabbits Theme” and “Call from the Past,” to songs by jazz icon Dave Brubeck (“Three to Get Ready”), rock staple Beck (“Black Tambourine”), soul legend Nina Simone (“Sinnerman”), and Sacred Bones’ very own ethereal Chrysta Bell (“Polish Poem”). The result is a strange yet intriguing collection of mystifying music.
